One of the major River Lord powers of the river lands, centered on Riverguard. The Redshields grew out of the older 'Stalwart Defenders,' who merged with other groups to form the house. Long feuding with the Freeriver (Northfork) house, they are a chief rival of the rising Gallund/Trayalon realm. After their ruler was killed in the Honor Day attacks, the zealot Galbrand Landus consolidated influence and stoked anti-Gallund, anti-outsider resistance among their people.

Grew out of the older 'Stalwart Defenders' (which the assassin Ash originally came from). Persists as a major power into the h-284 map (Redshields, capital Riverguard). Viviana 'the Mad' Valstallen is used as a rallying symbol though she fights from personal rage, not ideology.
