Called Mad Madam Mim by the few who escaped her clutches. She comes from the Arla forest, where she took pleasure in torturing those who wandered into her domain and was particularly fond of eating paladins. Captured by the Flaming Spear tribe and given a choice — death, or a chance at a new life.

About this record: art and source provenance, discrepanciesWoke in a candle-lit cell beneath the earth with their memory stripped — no name, no face, no people, only skills and fragments of history — beside a black ring and an unsigned note promising land, title and 50,000 gold per black ring recovered, and warning that some of the others below could be trusted and some would succeed at any cost. SHE TOOK THE DEAL RELUCTANTLY, seeing no other option. The strange individual who met her promised she would be happy if she succeeded. His name was Onyx, and although she had trusted almost nobody in her life, he gained her confidence. HER TERMS, written on the back of her paper: a new location if she wants one; a magical deck of winning; additional magic to lure paladins to her lair; access to one particular paladin who has vexed her in the past; and protection under the Flaming Spear. MIM'S DECK — she can manipulate the cards however she sees fit, letting herself or others win. Technically she does not cheat on the number of cards; the probabilities are simply weighted so the outcome is close to guaranteed. At the end of the trial Onyx tells her: 'Mim... you have the smiley Paladin. He is all yours.'
