Originally a World Warden, and an outlier among his own people. Terek came to resent Ras and Noc for what he saw as failures in the way they oversaw and governed the plane, and eventually established a plane of his own and set about persuading the other gods that the world could be governed better. He was an optimist and a dreamer: he wanted a world of shared knowledge in which everyone had a right to the power and resources the world had to offer, and he neither understood nor accepted differences of position or the world's inherent bias toward chaos. Most of the World Wardens distanced themselves once he decided to become a god β none opposed him outright, and several were sympathetic. Those sympathisers became a faction apart, drifting from the Wardens' neutral balance toward a philosophy in which conflict was acceptable if it advanced Terek's aims. From that faction the HESH EMPIRE arose, with Terek the Redeemer as its god. His ambition culminated in Terek's Folly, and he did not survive it.

Record Notes
About this record: art and source provenance, discrepanciesMERGED 2026-08-04. character/terek-the-redeemer.json has been deleted and its content folded into this record β Terek is a deity. The character record's campaigns[] (Founding of Trayalon) and its world-wardens link are carried here; its origin lore was already carried across in the previous pass. RANK RAISED TO 100 (2026-08-04, author's ruling): Terek is to sit at the same power and importance tier as Onyx Longtooth. NOTE THIS OVERRIDES THE GRID β PilotStar/Diety Grid.csv still reads '10,Terek the Redeemer,,No,,,Major,male,Human/Hesh Empire,,' and the standing convention is that the grid wins on conflicts. The CSV should be updated to 100 so the two stop disagreeing; it has not been edited here, since PilotStar/ is read-only by convention. Updates 2026-08-04 (portrait research). ORIGIN LORE CARRIED ACROSS from character/terek-the-redeemer.json, which held the fullest account of him anywhere in the repo (sourced from Before Terek_s Folly\People\Terek the Redeemer.md) while this grid-backed deity record was a bare stub. The essentials: he was a World Warden before he was a god; he resented Ras and Noc; he built his own plane; his vision required replacing Noc and forcing Ras to change; the World Wardens who sympathised with him split off, hardened, and became the HESH EMPIRE with Terek as their god; and his ambition ended in Terek's Folly. The source's design note is blunt about the motive: 'the world is not fair and there's a lot of chaos... He wants everything to be equal and be a socialist utopia. He questions why this isn't the case.... Why do the gods allow these flaws in the world, why not allow all to be happy?' causedTF set to true β the cataclysm is named for him and the source states his ambition culminated in it. The schema provides causedTF as a special flag for exactly this. DUPLICATE ENTITY, DIFFERENT TYPE β character/terek-the-redeemer.json shares this exact id but is typed CHARACTER. Same hazard as onyx-longtooth. Its lore has been carried here; recommend merging into this DEITY record and removing the character one. Flagged 2026-08-04; not merged. GRID β rank 10, Major, did not survive TF, male, Human/Hesh Empire. The Type (domain) and Description columns are both blank, so domain remains 'Unknown'. Worth noting the oddity that the figure the world's central catastrophe is named after carries a power rank of only 10 while holding Major importance; that combination is unusual in the roster and may be deliberate (a World Warden who ascended late and thinly) or may be a data error. ORIGIN TENSION β Onyx's study sheet calls Terek one of 'the three ancient kings of the Hesh', while this source makes him a World Warden who ascended and around whom the Hesh Empire then formed. The two are reconcilable in that order, but the sequence is not stated anywhere explicitly. ART β images/multiple_campaigns/Terek.jpg (and its crop terekCropped.jpg) is the only art. PROVENANCE CAVEAT: every other image opened from images/multiple_campaigns/ during this pass turned out to be third-party β helmarTheMighty.jpg, nyx01.jpg and nyx02.jpg (signed), onyx.jpg, and sorin.jpg (watermarked TAMNT.NET). This one carries no visible watermark or signature, but the folder's track record means its provenance should be confirmed before the design is treated as canonical. Nothing here is published: multiple_campaigns is absent from the CAMPAIGN_FOLDERS map in optimize-images.mjs, so no art resolves to Terek at all. Pending card: images/gods/cards/terek-the-redeemer.png.
