About this record: art and source provenance, discrepanciesWoke in a candle-lit cell beneath the earth with their memory stripped — no name, no face, no people, only skills and fragments of history — beside a black ring and an unsigned note promising land, title and 50,000 gold per black ring recovered, and warning that some of the others below could be trusted and some would succeed at any cost. HOW HE GOT HERE: growing frustrated, he returned home. Blopcork, leader of the hilltop tribe, was running a competition of physical prowess for the hand of his daughter, and every entrant had to sign a contract first. Word of Vromane's return had spread and his victory was treated as a foregone conclusion. He signed a contract stating he would win the daughter's hand and the surrounding lands upon completing his task. He noticed the contract was probably magical, but others were signing so he thought nothing of it. That is his last memory. He surmises that Blopcork — who famously hated his boorish behaviour — tricked him into signing it. HIS TERMS: the lands, the lordship, and the hand of the lord's daughter.
