A self-taught wizard and shepherd, born near the Paveran desert hills north of the known kingdoms. Physically weak, he discovered necromancy by accident while trying to revive sheep killed by hill wolves, and found that a perimeter of zombie sheep worked better than living shepherding. He is morally complex β a necromancer who uses the undead for practical protection rather than out of malice: 'I save these people, because these are my people.' He has since become a lich, and takes it as a beginning rather than an end: 'I can live forever, and I have started anew. I can help tame the wild lands up here.'

Campaign Notes
DM only β campaign-sensitive materialHis magic parallels that of Thomas Cassius, who had far more resources. His lich transformation released all his controlled undead into chaotic, unguided behaviour. Nina is a resurrected village woman, not his mother β his mother is a separate unnamed figure who went mad. Safa, pregnant with Finn's child, chose to stay with him. He likely reappears as a major figure in the Legends of the North campaign (h-172).
