In the north of the eastern land lies the enchanted forest known as the Whispering Woods, the ancestral home of the elves. Travellers who venture there swear they can hear voices whispering through the trees. Whether those voices are tricks of the wind or actual elves watching the intruders while conversing just out of earshot is a topic debated as fiercely as any other local rumor. The woods are said to drive outsiders crazy through paranoia, causing even the most seasoned scouts to lose their way, their resolve, and eventually their minds within the quiet glades. The wood is not dense, but is deceptively opaque to the untrained eye; in many places it is difficult to see farther than 50 feet without the proper training. The peculiar nature of the forest's quirks might be owed to the many strains of plants and animals that do not seem to be found anywhere else, or perhaps it is simply the elvish magic. Near the edge of the Whispering Woods is Dawncrest, a sprawling elvish refuge along the banks of the Crestmoon Sea.
