Terek was an extremely powerful mage and warrior who rose to godhood. His lust for power was so great that he eventually sought out the god of night and challenged him. Sensing attack, both the god of night and the god of day responded immediately with a destructive power never seen before. The resulting scar on the world is where Terek was smitten with godly power: a sheer cliff of obsidian along the south coast of the western continent.
