The Molten Isle is the home of Onyx Longtooth, a deity often confused with an ancient dragon. After surviving the events of Terek's Folly, Onyx retreated and re-bound his plane to the material plane using the natural magical nexus energies that course through the island. The island was the ancestral home of an ancient dwarven clan, but Onyx's arrival saw that clan's swift destruction; nothing remains of the dwarven civilization except deep caverns and their ancient magical forge, powered by the volcano near the center of the island. The Molten Isle is a magical place where many planes intersect. Walking across the landscape, a traveler could easily find themselves shifting between the many connected planes. Because of this the terrain is fantastically varied and impossibly larger than the island would seem, and it can be difficult for visitors to get their bearings or to anticipate what kind of environment they will find when they land on the island or travel between sections.
