An inland trading town of the River Lands, founded in h-99 β eleven years before Trayalon itself. It has never been a capital and has no port, sitting away from the coast on the Swiftwater side of the river country, and it has never once dropped off the map: Freemarket appears in every surveyed world state from h-130 through h-335, growing steadily from roughly 2,300 people to about 6,400 while the banner above it changed four times.

Record Notes
About this record: art and source provenance, discrepanciesSOURCES. Authored entry in `PilotStar/Cities.csv` (and the same row in `World Books/World Book.csv`): name Freemarket, year established **99**, region 'River Empire', sub-region 'Swiftwater', description blank. Everything else here is read from the Azgaar world exports in `web/public/maps/world-*.json`, where Freemarket is a burg in all 27 surveyed years at a fixed position of x1057, y893. SOVEREIGNTY, from the map series: | Years | State | |---|---| | h-130 β h-142 | Diocese of Swiftwater | | h-143 β h-148 | Trayalonese Empire | | h-149 β h-264 | Gallund River Empire | | h-265 β h-335 | Golden River Empire | That h-264 β h-265 boundary is the same one the Gallund β Golden rename was independently dated to: the state's display name flips at h-265 while its `fullName` stays 'Gallund River Empire' in the export, which is a useful corroboration of the rename event. POPULATION, modelled in the same exports: 2,313 (h-130) β 2,542 (h-149) β 2,852 (h-172) β 4,512 (h-264) β 5,399 (h-300) β 6,429 (h-335). Steady growth with no recorded shock, which is itself notable given how much of the region changed hands over that span. CREATED 2026-08-04 to close a gap flagged in commit `ec62f20` ('Wire up eight new city maps'): Freemarket had a city map at `web/public/images/cities/freemarket.webp` but no location entity anywhere, so the map's drill-in offered no 'View details' action. `build-map-data.mjs` links burgs to entities by normalised **name**, so this record resolves that once the map data is regenerated. No narrative material exists for Freemarket in any adventure file or player journal β the Cities.csv description field is empty and nothing else mentions it. Deliberately left thin rather than invented.
