Built on a small bay on the northern side of Bosh Arla, Moonbay Keep was established by Hesh families as a refuge for travellers between the Arla lands and the west. Unfortunately, as suspicion and distrust of all things Hesh grew after the establishment of the River Lords, many began to think the fort served more secret, nefarious purposes. The keep was eventually taken by House Kessel and used as both a garrison against, and a launching point for attacks across the isthmus on, the tribes of Arla. During the fighting with the Darkmoon Tribe, an assault force eventually took the keep, trapping those from the surrounding lands inside and killing them all. The keep was abandoned after the defeat and is now known as Bloodwater Keep, named after the bay that ran red with blood.

About this record: art and source provenance, discrepanciesName de-prefixed 2026-08-04; the `_` was a filesystem-safe stand-in for `/` in the source filename and is restored, with the individual names recorded as aliases. The raw filename `Places\15-85 Moonbay Keep _ Bloodwater Fort.md` gives founding h-15 and end h-85, preserved as `created_h` / `destroyed_h`. This matches the source body: built by Hesh families as a traveller's refuge, taken by House Kessel, then abandoned after the Darkmoon assault — and it is a crumbling ruin when the party visits in Kingdoms and Clouds ch-06 at h-149. NOTE: `status` is still `active`, which contradicts the abandonment; left unchanged as out of scope. VERIFIED 2026-08-05: `destroyed_h: 85` is KEPT, because the abandonment is corroborated independently of the filename convention — unlike Highhill, whose unsupported end year was removed, and unlike Fairbreeze, which was rebuilt. Three sources agree: (1) the Places document states outright that 'the keep was abandoned after the defeat and is now known as Bloodwater Keep'; (2) Kingdoms and Clouds ch-06 has the party visit it at h-149 as a moss-covered, crumbling ruin on the ocean cliffs near Eastguard; (3) no burg named Moonbay or Bloodwater appears on any map in the series (the only near-match, 'Floodwater' at cell 5259, is an unrelated thriving capital). `status` corrected from 'active' to 'ruins' to match — it had been left contradicting the recorded end year.
