A logging and hunting village in the wooded country south of the Northern Divide river, founded and led by the Fairbreeze family around the lumber mill they owned and worked. The Hench family, hunters and tradesmen settled beside the mill, fed and eventually defended it. Small enough to escape the notice of conquerors through the age of the river lords, Fairbreeze was nonetheless a quiet keeper of Hesh lore β and was burned twice for it, once by Swiftwater raiders and once at the treaty signing that ended in Vivian Fairbreeze's death. It was rebuilt, and endures.

Record Notes
About this record: art and source provenance, discrepanciesBurned twice, rebuilt both times β do not treat either burning as the village's end. (1) h-115, Founding of Trayalon ch-07: Brandon Swiftwater's forces raid Fairbreeze hunting the Crown of Sorin and Hesh knowledge. Elders interrogated and carried off, library looted and burned. This was an information raid, not a destruction β the village persisted and prospered (see event sack-of-fairbreeze). (2) h-150, Kingdoms and Clouds ch-09 "Fairbreeze Ablaze": Peter Gallund arrives with ~200 soldiers to sign a treaty in the garden, then amends it to demand Vivian Fairbreeze return to Trayalon as a hostage. Yolich Fairbreeze arrives declaring herself true matriarch and calling Fairbreeze to the Darkmoon Tribe; news breaks that Eastguard has been destroyed by a coordinated Darkmoon/Blackblade attack. Vivian steps between Peter and Yolich and Peter's swing kills her. Karl Hench attacks; Peter calls retreat but Commander Harrison refuses and burns much of the village. Stefon and Brace Hench evacuate survivors to the family mill; refugees reach Lightwatch. This is the start of the Hench Rebellion. (3) h-282, Brave New World ch-14: a rogue mage and a Silver Edge agent (Rylan) loose nightwings on the rebuilt village; Cassius Guild mages are killed and the town is again put to the torch. Political note: Fairbreeze sat in the Kesselands, claimed by a local rival lord, NOT in Gallund territory β the h-150 treaty/razing is what brought it into the GRE. Map data confirms cell 2953 flips from Kesselands to Gallund River Empire between h-150 and h-152. (A second 'Fairbreeze' burg at cell 3107 exists in the same map data but is flagged `removed: true` β filter it out; cell 2953 is canonical.) DM-only: treaty scribe Chester Blanks' second errand at Fairbreeze was to catalogue and extract library material useful to the Cassius school of magic (DC 20). Samantha Fairbreeze ran Hesh-artifact collection and Card Game/Darkmoon liaison from here. Gerald Brightspring came seeking a Hesh text on power over death tied to the leader Partanus and the Greycaller family, and during the exodus was quietly absorbing and preserving the life essence of the dying. Merge history: the duplicate importer stub `150-fairbreeze-villlage` (triple-l typo, auto-generated from PilotStar 'Places/9 - 150 Fairbreeze Villlage.md') was merged into this record and deleted on 2026-08-04. Its unique content is preserved here as `created_h` and `metadata.sourceYearPrefix`. Nothing else in the repo referenced that id. Dating from the source filename: the Places convention is '{founding year} - {end year} {Name}', so '9 - 150' gives founding h-9 and end h-150. The stub carried that end year as `destroyed_h: 150`; that field is deliberately NOT reproduced here, because h-150 is where the Places document's narrative stops (with Peter's razing), not the end of the settlement. The site was rebuilt: it appears inhabited in Brave New World ch-14 (h-282) and carries ~12,000 population behind walls on 0335.map. Hence `status: active` with `endYear_h` retained under `metadata.sourceYearPrefix` for provenance.
