They run A Place to Drink, a continent-wide chain of establishments that functions as a distributed network of safe houses and intelligence operations for the GRE's less official ambitions.

THE LINE ACROSS CAMPAIGNS: Seamus Adair, a hustler and information broker in h-109 Founding of Trayalon → Marshal Adair, a GRE marshal in h-149 → the Adair family guild becomes the Adair banking Guild by h-282, where Seamus Adair defends the accused at the Grand Inquiry → by h-335 they are GRE banking guild leadership and the poorly-kept-secret leadership of its criminal underground, with Adair Square in Starfall named after them. Their Starfall investment is A Place to Bet, built at remarkable speed and run by Celia Burns. Starfall takes ten percent, later renegotiated to twenty percent of income after losses. Information-gathering for the Adairs and the GRE was acknowledged as inevitable and not worth fighting, so long as it stayed invisible. Adair Square in Starfall is named after them; nobody in the government named it. DAMNING: A Place to Bet appears repeatedly in Tethis' Ubrover ledgers as a primary distribution node for the plague coin. Up to a third of all currency in Starfall passed through it. Someone in the cathedral chose it deliberately as a mechanism. Whether the Adairs knew is unresolved — Celia Burns closed her door on the Adair Square uprising rather than help, which Lloyd noted without deciding what it meant. Rivalry: Ramir the Gray of Gatester wanted them and Celia Burns expelled from Starfall as his price for investment.
