A council of tribal representatives convenes in the Thicket under a strict truce. Grimtold proposes a united Arla giving every tribe a seat; Pavik Shim attends 'to listen and be convinced', then announces that no one will be leaving. The gathering is a trap — Incak walks the camp signalling armed men, and hidden orcs and goblins ring the site. The elders gathered there are killed.
