A magical plague carried into the river kingdoms while the prison plane stood open. It is the Partanus' early attempt at the reincarnation effect the Arla elders eventually mastered. Victims appear dazed and distant and take 1 Int/Wis damage per day (Fort DC 15; ten consecutive successes confer immunity); at 0 Int/Wis they fade from existence entirely. It spreads by proximity and through magical interaction, and can be seen travelling the ley lines with detect magic. Those of Hesh descent save at -2; dwarves appear unaffected and may have known of it.
