Hesh High Noble and god of Dreams β€” and of nightmares, possession and illusion. He ruled the realm of dreams and visions, and all things slept within his domain. Terek's Folly shattered his plane and scattered his worshippers, and his body should have ended with them; instead he poured his last essence into the Crown of Sorin, a crown carved from the bones of forgotten gods, preserving his will at the cost of most of his power. He persists there still, reaching across the world through the sleeping mind β€” seeping into dreams to plant whispers, visions and desires until the sleeper is no longer themselves. 'Dreams are the door. I am the key. I wear the sleeper. I am Sorin.'

Avatar DescriptionA tall, gaunt, unnaturally elongated figure with corpse-pale grey skin and long black hair that drifts as though underwater. His eyes are sunken in deep shadow and lit faintly violet, and his hands are long, thin and pale. He wears the Crown of Sorin β€” a tall spiked crown of pale bone with elongated points β€” over heavy layered robes, black and violet-dark, tattered and shredded at every edge so the hem dissolves into smoke. Bone fittings and fine chains cross his chest, and violet dream-smoke coils continuously off the robes and trails from his hands. Recorded expressions run sleepless, haunting, tempting and malevolent; his palette is deep violet, purple-black, bone white and cold grey. His weapon is DREAMSPIRE, a slender shard of his former self used to pierce the veil between dream and waking flesh. Source: the character study sheet at images/gods/studies/sorin.png.

Record Notes

About this record: art and source provenance, discrepancies

The Crown can use Charm Person (DC 19) on anyone within 50 ft; if charmed, Dominate Person (DC 23). Acts as Crown of Glory spell. Brandon Swiftwater's fate as Sorin's host is unresolved. Previously catalogued as 'status: deceased / survivedTF: false' β€” updated to reflect campaign canon that he survived in diminished form within the Crown. Updates 2026-08-02 (portrait research). The study sheet at images/gods/studies/sorin.png is authorial and considerably richer than this record was. It supplies: his full domain list (Dreams, Nightmares, Possession, Illusion); his origin as a Hesh High Noble; his creed 'Dreams are the door. I am the key. I wear the sleeper. I am Sorin.' and the footer 'HE DOES NOT DREAM. HE WEARS YOU WHILE YOU DREAM.'; the meaning of his mark; and the Dream Aura mechanic β€” 'Sorin exists across the world through the realm of dreams. He seeps into sleeping minds, planting whispers, visions, and desires β€” until the sleeper is no longer themselves.' THE CROWN'S MATERIAL β€” the sheet states the Crown of Sorin is 'carved from the bones of forgotten gods', which item/crown-of-sorin.json records only as 'a bone crown'. Worth carrying across to the item entity. DREAMSPIRE β€” his weapon, 'a shard of his former self, used to pierce the veil between dream and waking flesh', has no item entity. Recorded in avatarDescription instead. Worth creating. The sheet's five narrative panels track the arc this record already holds: he ruled dreams; the Folly shattered his plane and lost his worshippers; he poured his last essence into the Crown; the Crown was unearthed in the Jade Lotus Monastery catacombs and he possessed the Steel Princess at once; and he still seeks his last great temple at Serpent's Lake where his true restoration awaits. STATUS NOTE β€” the grid records survivedTF as No, and the sheet agrees but qualifies it: 'Did not survive Terek's Folly β€” BUT REFUSED TO PERISH'. The record's status 'diminished' captures that correctly; leaving both fields as they are. ART β€” the site currently serves the entire multi-panel study SHEET as his deity image (web/public/images/entities/deity/sorin.webp). At card size it is unreadable and needs replacing with a single-figure portrait via images/gods/cards/sorin-deepshadow.png. ART WARNING β€” images/multiple_campaigns/sorin.jpg is third-party artwork carrying a visible 'TAMNT.NET' watermark (a hooded figure in dark armour with a glowing blue staff). It contradicts the study sheet design entirely and should not be used. It is NOT published, since multiple_campaigns is absent from the CAMPAIGN_FOLDERS map in optimize-images.mjs. Recommend archiving.
