A name spoken with equal parts awe and dread around campfires, in shadowed taverns and through the deep places β the Shadow Weaver. Born of both Drow and Shadar-kai blood and a son of the ancient House Nightbreeze, Nixis Malakor is a master rogue, a relentless ranger and a devoted cleric, and he stalks his quarry across forest, ruin and cavern with equal ease. His faith lets him weave sacred magic into darkness itself, blurring the line between divine judgement and living shadow. He offers no explanation of himself, and the legends grow every year for it.

Record Notes
About this record: art and source provenance, discrepanciesWHAT THE STORIES SAY, AND WHAT THEY DON'T. Some hold that he hunts those who threaten House Nightbreeze. Others believe he carries out the will of a forgotten power whose designs reach past the mortal world. Nixis confirms neither and lets both circulate. Recorded here as competing rumour rather than settled fact, per the canon-vs-clue rule. ASHBINDER. Nixis is known to falter at exactly one name β Ashbinder, a figure revered in the deepest circles of knowledge and nature. Only the rare few are wise or desperate enough to seek Ashbinder out, believing he alone may understand the true purpose behind the Shadow Weaver's path. Those who claim to have found him come back with cryptic warnings and fragmented truths and little else. The connection is asserted from Nixis' side; nothing in Ashbinder's own record acknowledges it, so the relationship is one-directional as it stands. WHAT IS COMING. As ancient relics awaken, kingdoms drift toward war, and the boundaries between the Material Plane, the deep places and the plane of shadow weaken, Nixis is expected to be drawn into events that could reshape every realm he has walked. Whether he ends up remembered as a guardian cloaked in darkness or as the harbinger of a new age is unwritten. SETTING NOTE (2026-08-02). This character arrived with terminology that does not yet exist in PilotStar, recorded plainly so a future reader can tell imported vocabulary from established world canon: - **Drow** β established. Appears in the raw lore. - **Material Plane** β established. Widely used. - **Shadar-kai**, **Underdark**, **Shadowfell**, **House Nightbreeze** β no precedent anywhere in the repo or the raw lore. The source text's 'Underdark' and 'Shadowfell' are rendered here as 'the deep places' and 'the plane of shadow' where they appear in world-facing prose, and left verbatim in the race and house fields. PilotStar's own cosmology already has planar structure to hang this on if wanted β the Hesh god-planes, the Sanctuary Plane, Sorin's and Rysen's collapsed planes β so the shadow plane could be folded in as one of those rather than imported wholesale. That is an authoring decision and has not been made. UNAFFILIATED. No campaign, no h-year, no timeline placement yet. Follows the same convention as `ashbinder`: unprefixed id, no `campaigns` array, flagged in metadata as awaiting assignment. ART (added 2026-08-02). A full character study sheet exists at images/13_kids_campaign_2/nixis_malakor.png β four-view turnaround, three head studies, detail panels for armour, crescent-moon amulet and cloak, a full gear layout (twin violet-lit curved blades, thorned recurve bow and quiver, potions, pack, grimoire with a crescent-moon emblem, hanging charms), two action panels and a colour palette of greys, blacks and deep violet. physicalDescription has been extended from it. ART IS PUBLISHED BUT UNATTACHED β the optimizer copied it to web/public/images/campaigns/kids-campaign-2/nixis_malakor.webp, which is NOT in the entity resolution path (getEntityImage checks manifest.cards, the hard-coded characterPortraits map, then manifest.entities[type] β campaign folders are none of those). The site therefore shows no image for this character. Fix is a card at images/13_kids_campaign_2/cards/nixis-malakor.png; that cards/ folder already exists and is empty. CAMPAIGN HINT, UNRESOLVED β this record is flagged unaffiliated and awaiting campaign assignment, but the art was filed under images/13_kids_campaign_2/ (slug kids-campaign-2). That is suggestive, not decisive β it may simply be where the file was dropped. campaigns[] deliberately left unset; the assignment is the author's call. The gear on the sheet has no item entities and is recorded in physicalDescription rather than notableItems, to avoid creating dangling references. Appearance provenance (moved out of physicalDescription 2026-08-23): Appearance of record: the character study sheet at images/13_kids_campaign_2/nixis_malakor.png.
