The best investigator in Greyrock, and the one the rich and powerful come to only when they are desperate enough. He lives alone. He had friends once, in a distant past that has curdled into bitter memory. He lives case by case, and the time between jobs is a hazy blur of bottles and bad company — he would have vanished into Greyrock's undercurrent long ago if he were not simply the best at what he does. When someone needs a result badly enough, they send a man to dig him out of his bottle and give him a purpose: another job. The employer and the task mean little to Tanalas. Only the result matters, and Tanalas always gets his result.
