Detailed Narrative'Your party has the unique ability to be outside of Arla... If we can cut him off from the planes we can make him mortal again.' Dark Moon cannot start a war with the Sparrow tribe without splintering every tribe; the only way is a meeting of all leaders. Grimtold shares the method for shutting the prisons down — spellcraft 25, or the gauntlet to overcome the defenses outright, which also teaches use of the portals for teleport.
He also explains the Sparrow grievance: a sorcerer named Ash came through decades ago spreading the tale that Admond Gallund and others killed the Drifter — the Sparrows' last main elder, who had gone to the river kingdoms to seek an alliance with Swiftwater.
New Resish admits no ship without Macklot's approval, and burns no lamp oil — the streets are lit off the ley line. Prisons are established at Mountainfoot, Trayalon, New Resish, Deepwood (already held by Pavik Shim and the Sparrows), and Brightport.
Maddie opens up about her other self: 'Have you ever been unmade?... I was happy as a child, but neglected by my father... I would go to the ruins every time, and slowly I lost myself... I glimpsed the gods when that happened... Pavik carries that anger with him, as I carry it in my otherself. I believe we must stop him.'
