Detailed Narrative
Months after the Bloodwater Fort raid, insurgency is rampant across the Kesselands β supply caravans are being harried and GRE patrols are ambushed. Steve has traveled to Trayalon to retrieve his shield. Ja'ayne has a vision (of the past): Terek and a female archer (World Warden) walk through a burned town, discussing whether some knowledge should not be freely shared. Terek insists the Wardens must offer freely without judging worthiness. Rayne appears and charges Ja'ayne to shield the weak from ambition. Tessa Cinderforce notes the historical moment. Marshal Adair arrives from the Trayalon council, investigating the resistance. He tries to leverage Steve's GRE loyalty, then offers payment, proposing the party shadow a decoy payment caravan to flush out insurgents. Wandering John, a mysterious immortal bard (the Traveller), performs at the tavern β Karsagard warns Ja'ayne not to trust him. He sings 'Maiden's Mistakes' and tells the legend of the Shards of the Moon (gods gave crystals that corrupted their users). Samantha reports rumors of a Blazing Hood mountain prison (Kar Kolis) holding catfolk captured during the Portal Battle. She also describes the legendary Forges of Bourdain in the cliffs north of Serpent's Lake. Vivian offers Medallions of Terek that allow entry to the ruins of Loresh β a Hesh city embedded in the obsidian cliffs near Cliffhaven, recently rediscovered by Trayalon adventurers. Gerald Brightspring appears in the region, drawn from Arla by mysterious urges connected to lost knowledge of life and death.
