Back in Trayalon, a Swiftwater envoy arrives through Seamus and Solomon: Admond is being held prisoner along with Bris, and Brandon Swiftwater demands the Crown of Sorin in exchange for Admond's life. Udin recommends against giving up the Crown, fearing Onyx will recover it from Swiftwater. Tray leaves the final decision to the group. Seamus also brokers a private meeting: Brandon wants to meet Solomon alone at the Gilded Palace inn in Two Rivers with the passphrase 'A Single Kingdom.' Meanwhile, news arrives that Swiftwater sacked Fairbreeze — interrogated Hesh elders, looted and destroyed the library, confirming Swiftwater's Hesh bloodline and their drive to reclaim the old power. At Two Rivers, the party stages either an exchange or a rescue attempt. Sandra the Brightborn appears to protect against an attack. The Doomguard Tel-vis attacks whoever holds the Crown; if defeated, he drops a void stone and, if left alive, explains it can destroy Sorin's link to the world in the Nexus. Brandon Swiftwater ultimately obtains the Crown and Admond is freed, spinning the story as 'Swiftwater rescued Admond from the dragon.'
